America’s Got Talent Season 5 Episode 10 :: Vegas Week

Jul 06, 2010

Last night on America’s Got Talent season 5, the competition heated up. The 100+ remaining contestants competed in Vegas for a spot in the top 48. Before the acts began, the judges divided the contestants into three groups: group A, the judges favorites who would perform their acts; group B, who would only get to perform if there were spots remaining after group A performed; and group C, who were sent straight to Hollywood.

Group C – Those Sent to Hollywood

  • Arc Attack (the stunt group who used electricity)
  • Belly Dancing Duo
  • Cheer San Francisco (Cheerleading squad)
  • Da Maniacs (dance crew)
  • Fighting Gravity (the frat guys who performed a glow-in-the-dark puppet show)
  • Future Funk (two young hip-hop dancers)
  • Haspop (street performers)
  • Polina Volcheck (the acrobat who performed with hula hoops)
  • South Philly Vikings (dance crew)
  • Strikers All-Stars (dance crew)

Group A hit center stage in a specific order. All the similar talents performed consecutively so that the judges could compare them. First up was the magicians, followed by the harmonica players, acrobats, “the danger category,” classical singers[/kwlink], dance groups, female singers, talented kids, comedians, novelty acts (everything that didn’t fit into the other groups), and finally male singers.

The Contestants Advancing to Hollywood

The judges sent 27 acts from Group A to Hollywood. Among them were:

  • Chipps Cooney (comedic magician)
  • Murray SawChuck (magician)
  • Antonio (magician with fire stunts)
  • The harmonica player
  • Twisted Trystan (sword swallower)
  • The Strong Man
  • AscenDance (acrobats)
  • Rudi Macaggi (acrobat)
  • Prince Poppycock (classical singer)
  • Hannibal (classical singer)
  • Dancing rock violinist
  • Wreckless (dance crew)
  • Bollywood dance group
  • Alice Tan Ridley (subway singer)
  • Debra Romer (singer)
  • Mary Ellen (the horrible yodeler/keyboard player)
  • Lil Chris (singer)
  • C.J. Dippa (rapper)
  • Doogie Horner (comedian)
  • Maricar (glass painter)
  • Sally Cohn (hand whistler)

With 11 spots remaining, Group B will take the stage and try their best to impress the judges. That’s all tonight on America’s Got Talent.
