Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Coming Next Year

Oct 20, 2016

By: Max Cannon

Only a company like Rockstar Games could set the world on fire with a color.

Early on Sunday October 16th, Rockstar Games updated their Twitter, Facebook and Newswire with the color red in front of their classic logo. Then the following morning an image was revealed showing a group of seven cowboys walking in front of a sunset. And finally, a day after that, we saw the official announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming in Fall of 2017.

A Return To The West

No one is too sure of story details as of the moment, but we can speculate that this game will be directly tied into the original Red Dead Redemption. Many gamers were speculating that the game would be a continuation of the Red Dead R_______ titling we saw in both Red Dead Redemption and the original game Red Dead Revolver which originally released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox - it was recently ported to the PlayStation 4 however. However, internet know-it-alls were disappointed to see the game simply called Red Dead Redemption 2.

This direct continuation of name could insinuate that the game is a direct sequel to the Red Dead Redemption and that would imply that the story would continue. There are several interesting directions the game could be taken because of the finale to the previous game. Many have speculated that we'll be playing as returning hero John Marston as he runs with his old gang that is referenced throughout Redemption. Another possibility is that we'll be playing as John Marston's son, Jack, as he took up the cowboy mantle at the end of the game. Or everybody's wrong and no one has any clue what will happen!

Red Dead Redemption 2's Short, But Sweet, Trailer

Earlier today, a short trailer was revealed giving us a look at the gorgeous new world you'll be riding through in the new game. There was very little in terms of plot - i.e nothing - for the new game but we did get a quick glimpse at the team of outlaws that we supposedly saw on the poster.

Camping out under the stars, riding through plains, and chasing down trains are some of the snippets you can see in the new trailer - oh and insanely beautiful graphics, those are on show too. You can check out the trailer below.

If you are loving an excuse to pick up the original Red Dead Redemption, it was recently brought to Xbox One backwards compatibility and it runs better than ever before after their recent patch. Riding horses, capturing trains, and running around with friends is still as fun as it was when the game first came out, believe me I've been putting some time into it.

And it's a good idea to get back into the swing of things because word is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will implement Red Dead Online and you'll be testing your mettle all over again. What better way to get back into the swing of things.
