A Gift Guide for Xbox Lovers

If you're one of the lucky ones to have a stellar 4K TV in your household then you're going to want a console capable of matching the might of your television. The best machine you can currently snag for outputting the most gorgeous looking games is undoubtedly the Xbox One X. If you're on the hunt for one of these machines then you may be interested in a special deal that knocks off $150 bucks and bundles in a copy of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. If you're on the hunt for upgrading to a One X then you're not going to find a better deal than this. That's not the only Xbox swag we're including below.

There are always plenty of options for your controllers with Xbox and they're recently upped their game even further by releasing the Xbox One Eliter Controller Series 2. It's worth every penny and makes the best controller ever even better. Of course, you can also add a more personal touch by using Xbox Design Lab to create your own controller.

Finally, you're going to want to snag some games and a subscription for Xbox Game Pass is unquestionably the best deal in gaming. Joining Xbox Game Pass will only cost $1 for the first three months and get you access to a huge collection of Xbox and PC games to download at your leisure. Perfect timing too as The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC in early December to give gamers endless hours of Halo to enjoy.

The Perfect Present for PlayStation Players

Though the Xbox One X may be the most powerful platform out there, the PlayStation 4 is certainly the most popular console out there and there's plenty of awesome experiences out there. There are also a few different models of Sony's system to choose from, at the moment you'll be split between the regular PlayStation 4 -- commonly called the PlayStation 4 Slim -- and the more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro which can sometimes get games running near 4K. The best bargain of the holiday season has to be the 200-dollar-deal for a Slim PS4 and 3 of the best games on the platform, God of WarThe Last of Us: Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn. And if you're the sort of person after the best visuals then you can also snag a PS4 Pro for $299.99 (USD) / $369.99 (CAD), which is $100 off the usual price-tag.

If you're looking for an opportunity to try out PlayStation's reasonably robust VR selection, then you may be interested in the $199.99 (USD) / $249.99 (CAD) PSVR bundle. For that cost you'll get the necessary PlayStation Camera, VR Headset, and 5 of the best VR games on the system which includes Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Resident Evil 7, Everybody's Golf VR, PlayStation VR Worlds, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, though keep in mind that you'll still need to snag some motion controllers separately.

If you're a GameStop shopper then you'll also be pleased to see a year of PlayStation Plus for $45 rather than $60. You'll need that service to play most PS4 games online and you'll also receive a pair of brand new games every month and lately they've been pretty handing out some pretty awesome offerings. There's also one other subscription available to PlayStation users, part of Sony's new focus on cloud gaming, PlayStation Now.

Though there aren't any major discounts floating around for PlayStation Now, the service recently dropped its price to a reasonable $9.99 a month or $59.99 for a year. This package gets you access to a collection of PS3 games to be streamed online and PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 4 games that can be either streamed or downloaded directly to your system.

Holiday Must-Haves on the Nintendo Switch

Gamers of any age can find a lot to love with a Nintendo console and many older players have fond memories of enjoying Nintendo-products during the holidays. There are plenty of excellent games to pick up on this console-handheld hybrid and even an update to this iconic system. The recently released Nintendo Switch Lite is basically brand-new at this moment so you won't be chipping away much from the $200 price-tag for this permanently portable take on the Switch. But if you're looking for a bundle to pick up the original Switch then you may be interested in the $300 bundle that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, arguably the best Mario Kart game ever made.

Of course, there are plenty of amazing Nintendo Switch exclusives that you'll want to make sure to consider. The charming Luigi's Mansion 3 is an animated-adventure movie that you can control, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a must-own for anyone with a Switch, and though we're still working on our review for the recently released Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield I can confidently say that any kid will have a great time with the latest game in this long-running series. If you're grabbing a Nintendo Switch exclusive, it's a safe bet that you'll get your money's worth. Also consider Nintendo Switch Online as an affordable stocking stuffer. A year of the service that'll let you play games online will set you back $20 for a year and includes a collection of classic NES and SNES games to play on your Switch.

The controllers that work with the main model of the Nintendo Switch are called Joy-Con and a pair of them will set you back about $80 but fortunately, there are some deals floating around that'll knock the whole thing down to $70, with rumors of an extra $10 coming off around Black Friday. And if you're a fan of playing with a more traditional controller, the equally pricey Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is worth every penny of it's $70 price-tag.
