Cooking Mama has been a staple of Nintendo consoles going back to the Nintendo DS. After a bit of a break with no games hitting the Wii U, Cooking Mama: Cookstar brings the beloved kitchen gameplay to the Switch in a big way. There have been a couple of spin-off games in the form of Gardening Mama, Crafting Mama, and Camping Mama, but Cookstar returns to the series’ roots with all-new recipes to collect, with an added focus on sharing your creations on social media.

Some returning favorites are coming back too, so if you have a favorite recipe from the past, chances are you’ll be able to cook it yet again in CookStar. Game Modes

Chefs who just want to cook alone absolutely can, but those looking for a couple of cooks in the kitchen will be delighted to learn that Cooking Mama: CookStar has multiplayer support. You and a friend can tackle the game’s challenges together, so find your ideal partner, find some recipes and get cooking! The game uses the power of the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers to allow for both motion and traditional button controls. No word yet on whether or not you can opt to use one or the other, but the more authentic experience of flipping patties or dicing fresh vegetables could only be better with motion controls. If you find you’re mastering recipes quickly, you can try challenge mode to up the intensity of the gameplay, and truly put your cooking skills to the test!

Sharing is Caring

Taking inspiration from the social media of today, a big part of CookStar is how you share your creations once you complete them. Mama is even snapping a picture of her delectable rainbow grilled cheese sandwich on the game’s cover art. You can spin the camera around, and apply filters and stickers to make your meals stand out! From the Switch, you can then share your pictures on Facebook and Twitter for all your friends and family to see! Cooking Mama: CookStar is due out on the Nintendo Switch this March 2020.
