  • Lizzo’s full name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson.
  • Lizzo was born on April 27th, 1988. Her zodiac sign is a Taurus. 
  • She was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to Houston, Texas when she was ten years old.
  • She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2011 for a fresh start after her father passed away.

Music

  • Lizzo grew up playing the flute and even majored in Classical Flute at the University of Houston.
  • She has been part of groups called Lizzo & the Larva Ink and The Chalice.
  • She worked with Prince when she was featured along with The Chalice bandmate Sophia Eris on the song “Boy Trouble” off his album Plectrumelectrum.
  • She has founded five different hip hop groups: The Chalice, Grrrl Party, The Clerb, Ellypseas, and Absynthe.
  • She has three solo albums: Lizzobangers (2013), Big Grrrl Small World (2015), and Cuz I Love You (2019). She also has an EP called Coconut Oil (from 2016).
  • She performed at Coachella in 2019.

Acting

  • Lizzo made her voice acting debut in the feature film UglyDolls in 2019 where she voiced the character Lydia.
  • She is in the upcoming movie Hustlers with JLo, Lili Reinhart (from "Riverdale"), Keke Palmer, Constance Wu, Madeline Brewer, and Julia Stiles.
  • She also has an upcoming credit on "Yeti! Yeti!"

Advocacy in Body Image

  • Lizzo has made body image and self-love a major theme in her music, proudly sharing her experience as a plus-sized black woman who dealt with body image issues as a child.
  • Her message of inclusivity is reflected in her performances. Her plus-sized backup dancers are called the Big Grrrls.
  • Many of her songs reflect her message of body-positivity including “Tempo” feat. Missy Elliott, “Good As Hell,” and “My Skin.”
