Do you understand the language of sports? Here’s some lingo that crosses the boundaries of your favorite games…

Field Goal

  1. Football: When the ball is kicked through the uprights.
  2. Basketball: A two-point shot.


Pitch

  1. Baseball: The act of the throwing the ball toward the plate.
  2. Other sports: The actual field on which you play.


Triple Crown

  1. Baseball: Award
  2. Golf: Award
  3. Horse Racing: Award


Goaltending

  1. Soccer: The legal act of defending the goal.
  2. Basketball: The illegal act of defending the goal.
