Our House Party! is a home renovation inspired party game for up to four-players, as you battle it out to see who has redecorated their house the best by competing in a series of mini-games. Featuring 24 different renovation projects spread out across 175 mini-games, Our House Party has surprising variety, but are they worth replaying?
The game begins with the players selecting the property they want to build on, the house they want built, and the character they wish to play as. You’re then inundated by product placement as you search for a tool in a mini-game at a hardware store before beginning the main renovation mini-games. This part of the game, along with the product placement that goes along with it, soured my experience with Our House Party. Whether it will have the same impact on you is up in the air.
Plenty of Activities
Once you get to the renovation mini-games, the Wii-mote is put to use moving furniture around, putting up wallpaper, painting walls, mowing the lawn and more. It was nice to play mini-games with concepts that haven’t been implemented into video games before, as much of time it felt like something new. After a while the games do start to blend together however, and none of them are addictive or worthy of constant replaying. The best part about Our House Party is that it removes the board game style of Mario Party, eliminating the boredom that comes from watching computer-controlled characters make their moves.
Ultimately what you’re getting with Our House Party is a multiplayer party game with a home renovation theme. If that concept interests you, there is plenty in Our House Party to keep you and your family playing all night long.
