G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra :: Wii Game Review

While G.I. Joe The Rise Of The Cobra for Nintendo Wii doesn’t really involve any amazing new elements of gameplay, it does let you play as some of the characters from the movie, which is pretty cool in and of itself!

Details, Details

This is a one or two player shooter-style game that takes you on several missions to defeat Cobra. In the first three levels you battle in the desert, the snow and jungle. Each level contains several missions all ending with the defeat of a primary Cobra (like Destro and the Baroness). At various checkpoints your player is measured and points are accumulated to earn battle points. Once a mission is completed, you are assessed and ranked as an Average Joe, Super Joe or other categories. Once the first three levels are completed, you can move on to the Tundra.

As you proceed you can find file cards to gain additional information, earn points and find files to unlock other characters and add to your special powers. Each character has a power such as Duke's hand grenades, Heavy Duty's massive machine gun fire and Snake Eyes' sword slam. These can really come in handy when taking on Cobra tanks, aircraft and mechanized armored foot soldiers. You can even throw on an Accelerator Suite and kick it into high gear.

Completion of missions also unlocks extras. Some of these are in the form of the old public service announcements that were a part of the GI television series in the ‘80s. Other video and multimedia items can be unlocked and viewed through the game menus.
