Thomas Dekker Bio

These days most people know Thomas Dekker as Adam from the CW’s new witch-themed hit show The Secret Circle, but the 23-year-old actor has been in the biz since he was six years old. Find out how he got his start in his Kidzworld Bio!

Performing Parents

Thomas Dekker was born to stage parents, literally! His mother, who comes from Wales, is a concert pianist, actor and singer and his father (who has now passed away) was an artist, opera singer and actor. It’s safe to say that he has music and performance in his veins. Although he was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas grew up all over the world, spending time in Europe, Canada and the States.

Cartoon Kid

Thomas first broke into acting when he was just six years old, scoring a role in the soap opera The Young and the Restless. He also appeared in Star Trek Generations and became a regular on the Disney TV show Honey I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show. He guest starred on many popular TV shows, and also did the voices for characters in animated films like The Land Before Time V-XI and An American Tale: The Treasure of Manhattan Island. He won Young Artist Awards for both his performance on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and his voice over for An American Tale: The Mystery of the Night Monster.

Music or Movies

While living in Canada as a teen, Thomas started honing his musical skills and by age 10 was already writing songs and composing music which he later branded “electrofolk” for its classic and electronic influences. He signed a record deal at age 15 but felt that he didn’t have enough control over his music and abandoned it for the silver screen again. Thomas landed a role on the supernatural series Heroes and then on The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It wasn’t long until the film directors came knocking. In 2009 he was in the thriller From Within alongside stars like Alec Baldwin and Cameron Diaz.

Scary Movies to Secret Circle

The supernatural and scary roles kept coming for Thomas. He had roles in a few scary films like Nightmare on Elm Street, Laid to Rest and All About Evil. He went on to star in the true life story of the first family to be in a reality series in the ‘70’s, called An American Family, in early 2011. But by the fall he was back to the supernatural, starring on the CW’s The Secret Circle as a member of a coven of witches.

Did You Know...

  • Thomas didn’t give up music entirely. His album Psyanotic is available for download on iTunes.
  • During his teen years Thomas was involved in the underground metal scene in Las Vegas.

Things Change. And Friends Leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody. We accept the love we think we deserve. Even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. In this moment I swear, We are Infinite. - The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

No offense, but everyone keeps singing that song, and it's getting so old, I hate it so much!!!! I made some really funny, but offensive theories of Elsa, and I hate it so much, like I want to blow up Disney for that.
