Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne Johnson embark on the adventure of a lifetime in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Kidzworld has the movie review.

The Island Exists

Sean (Josh Hutcherson) receives a cryptic message from his grandfather telling him that the mythical island written about in three classic novels is real. Sean wastes no time pursuing this lead, but his stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson) won’t let him go it alone. Together, they fly halfway around the world and charter a rickety helicopter crewed by Gabato (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful daughter Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens).

Crash Landing

When their helicopter capsizes in the stormy seas, the four of them wash up on the very island they were searching for. On it, they encounter creatures of unusual proportions, including giant bees and lizards, and dog-sized elephants. And they also find Sean’s grandfather, Alexander (Michael Caine), who’s built his own tree house.

The Sinking Island

Thanks to his military training, Hank notices signs that the island is quickly sinking beneath the ocean. In order to survive, they must locate the rumoured submarine called the Nautilus and use it to escape the island. But time is running low. In spite of their differences, Hank and Sean must work together if they want to save themselves and the others.

The Bottom Line

As sequels go, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is definitely a good one. It is jam-packed with magical sights, death-defying adventure and laugh-out-loud moments. And best of all, it looks like there’s going to be a third movie! We definitely recommend seeing Journey 2 in 3D!
