Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD Review
Courtesy of Warner BrosSure, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is coming to a theater near you on November 18, 2004, but after you've checked it out, why not tune into an old favorite? Make this a full-fledged wizard weekend by catching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on ABC at 8PM on November 19, 2005!
One of the great things about sequels (there aren't actually that many), is that you've already been introduced to the whole idea, the concept and the characters. So instead of spending the first twenty minutes tryin' to wrap your noggin around who's who and what they meant when they said A or B, you get to sit back and let it all wash over you. It's like dinner at your Nana's or havin' shopping cart races with your buds at the Piggly Wiggly.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - The Goods
As sequels go, I am very happy to report that
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is even better than the first. The whole wand wavin' gang is back, but what makes this installment fly like a
Nimbus gone wild is the introduction of Gilderoy Lockhart (played with ultra flair by Kenneth Branagh,) and Dobby the computer-spawned house elf. I swear some of the best performances, in the last few years, have been turned in by things cut and pasted off of somebody's MAC.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Curse of the Sequel
If there is a criticism of
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets it is this - longer isn't always better. Someone really should have spent a few minutes running through the halls of Hogwarts with scissors.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Bottom Line
The biggest star in
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is
Hogwarts itself. From the mucho evil Slytherin common room, to the depths of the Chamber of Secrets, this magical mansion is amazing. A definite must-see for the whold family!
