2013 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships

Jan 03, 2013

The World Junior Hockey Championships in Russia are down to the Final 4 and Canada and the USA are matched up in the Semi-Finals. You’re not going to want to miss that game. The other two teams will be Russia and Sweden who are normally the other contenders for the Gold medal.

It’s a given that Canada is a dominating country in hockey. Canada has received a medal in the last 14 World Juniors… but if there was one more sport the US needed to dominate, it sure looks like they are starting to become one of the World’s best hockey nations.

The USA pounded the Czech Republic 7-0 in the Quarter Finals and they meet Canada in the next semi-final game to happen on Thursday at 4am ET / 1am PT. The USA has a bad reputation of giving Canada a difficult time to win the Gold… especially when team USA almost stole the Olympic Gold at the 2010 Olympics.

But Canada is favored to win the Gold medal once again. In fact, there isn’t so much pressure on them to win this year as the tournament is all the way in Russia. So the Russians have the home-ice advantage and that usually makes the Canadians play more at ease.

Predictions...

Kidzworld predicts Canada to win against the USA 2-1 and then beat Russia in the final 5-2.
