What is St. Patrick's Day celebrating?

St. Patrick's Day is the Feast of St. Patrick - it's an Irish cultural and religious holiday celebrated on March 17 named after Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognised patron saint in Ireland.  In Ireland it's a public holiday celebrated with public parades, festivals and the wearing of green clothes and shamrocks. In the rest of the world, St. Patrick's Day is a celebration of irish culture!
