Beautiful Creatures: Get The Look

May 22, 2012

Beautiful Creatures is set in the sleepy Southern town of Gatlin, South Carolina where nothing ever happens. But, beneath the surface, there are strange and magical forces, rooted in the past, that are about to re-emerge in ways the townspeople can’t even begin to imagine. That dance between the Caster and Mortal world is not only one of Light and Dark but of the past and present, all of which weaves an intricate adventure that impacts the future.

Want to dress like the characters from Beautiful Creatures? Learn about all of your favorite character!

Lena Duchannes - Alice Englert

Lena Duchannes, the beautiful and enigmatic niece of Macon Ravenwood.  Lena is a Caster who possesses supernatural powers. She longs to break free from a family curse as she turns 16 and faces The Claiming…and being chosen by the forces of either the Light or the Dark.  Lena wants to be a normal teen and live a normal life, despite being anything but.

Although the ultimate connection is a mystery, one thing is clear: the moment Ethan and Lena meet, their bond is immediate, and so strong it unleashes another kind of storm altogether—a disturbance between powerful Light and Dark forces that have held a fragile, dormant truce in this Southern town for generations.

Ethan Wate – Alden Ehrenreich

Ethan Wate, a high school senior, has had the same recurring dream for months. A mysterious young girl is waiting for him on a Civil War battlefield. Ethan desperately wants to be with her, but there is an unknown danger—and each time a lightning bolt cracks like a gunshot, killing Ethan before he ever reaches the girl.

Ethan wants to break free from his small town and escape Gatlin’s stagnant existence.  But Ethan’s mundane world is shaken up with the arrival of Lena Duchannes. Although he is on the Varsity team and one of the popular kids, and Link is more of an outcast, they share the bond of having lost a parent.

Ridley Duchannes – Emmy Rossum

The Dark Caster Ridley Duchannes is a Siren who can get others to do her bidding. The nature of Ridley’s character—embodying different stylized looks and intention often without dialogue—could easily be daunting. All Ridley wants to do is stir up trouble.

Mrs. Lincoln/Sarafine – Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson plays the conservative town crier who is also the mother of Ethan’s best friend, Link. At the other end of the spectrum, Thompson, performing double duty, plays the role of Sarafine, a Dark Caster who is trying her best to stir up the nefarious forces in Gatlin. To say that Mrs. Lincoln is a Bible thumper would be an understatement.

Amma – Viola Davis

Amma had been Ethan’s mother’s best friend and had promised to watch out for Ethan when his mother passed away. While not a Caster, Amma is a Seer and has her own fears about a union between these two young people. Amma is the town librarian, and has her own mysterious connection to the spirit world,

Macon Ravenwood – Jeremy Irons

Macon Ravenwood is the reclusive owner of gothic Ravenwood Manor. He has a style, a wit and a bit of mystery. Though Macon had been Claimed by the Dark in his youth, he has been trying to suppress his true nature for the sake of Lena, his niece.

Link

Link is Ethan’s wingman on the journey with this remarkable girl. They’ve been best friends since they were little kids and have gone through a lot, they share the same mentality. And he will draw on whatever powers, Light or Dark, to protect her.

You need breakfast and lunch. Starving yourself, even if you aren't hungry, makes you loose energy to the point you could pass out from not eating. Keep your diet healthy. For breakfast, at least have yogurt, fruit, and juice. Drink at least 4 full glasses of water a day. Trim down on the snacks. Everyone has different bodies and build. You may just be large-boned. And that's not bad! That makes you stronger and higher ability to gain muscle. Loosing weight doesn't happen over night. It can take months.

For years my parents would tell me I'm skinny but compared to other people, my waist was bigger and I would always hide it. Though it was obvious I weighed more, I've only been doing this for a week and I didn't ever tell anyone what I was doing until my parents found out. I would skip lunch and breakfast and say I was full. I only ate a big dinner every night. Once my parents found out, they said it was unhealthy and if I didn't  stop, I would develop an eating disorder. I obviously listened to them, but I've tried as best as I can so far. I have barely lost any weight from exercise and my parents won't let me go on a diet because I already 'eat healthy enough'. I want to lose weight without exercising being 3/4s of my lifestyle. I know, I'm a lazy idiot for saying all this.

Yes, purely for the fact that you should not "hate" your sister (or anyone, for that matter).  I'm guessing by "get in trouble for her", you mean she does something wrong and the blame is all put on you? Yeah, little siblings tend to do that a lot. My brother did for the longest time, until my parents found out how much a liar he is. She, hopefully, will grow out of this eventually. Either that, or your parent[s]/guardian[s] will eventually see through her. You lose your friends to her? By this do you mean your friends want to hang out with her and they want you to tag along and you don't? Or do you mean your friends chose your sister over you? If it's the latter, then perhaps you shouldn't have ever referred to those people as friends. You'll find friends who'll prefer you over your sister, I'm sure of it. The only thing I can tell you to do is try to get along with your sister. Every group of siblings has their cats and dogs moment in life, but they grow out of it (most of the time; there are, of course, circumstances where it doesn't work out that way). Please be grateful for your sister, even if you two fight a lot. You never know how much you need something until it's gone.

If that fails, tell another trusted adult, like your mother. I'm sure someone you're close to would do their best to get justice. This is a major problem and it's a shame no one's done anything to help. No one listens to me anyway but my friends
