Blended Blu-ray Review

Blended Blu-ray Review - Reviewed by Kidzworld on Aug 26, 2014

Two families will have to survive their vacation when now that “Blended” has arrived onto Blu-ray + DVD! Read Kidzworlds review of the Blu-ray Combo Pack!

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and Jim (Adam Sandler) agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week.

The Bottom Line

If you're dying to watch a family-friendly romantic comedy, then this movie might hit all the right buttons for you. Adam Sandler comedies haven't been getting the greatest reviews in the last few years (and it's hard to live up to some of his earlier comedies) but Blended has some fun moments and gags in it all the same. Adam Sandler  and Drew Barrymore have reliably enjoyable chemistry when it comes to rom-coms, so if you're a die-hard fan of these two, you'll enjoy this one.

Although it's far-fetched these two families would coincidentally end up vacationing in the same place in Africa after the single parents suffer through a horrible first date with each other, some of the best parts of the movie have to do with the setting. The blu-ray extras wisely played up this aspect, and highlights in the extras include "Animals," "Ostriches" and "Safari." If you happen to be a Bella Thorne fan (from Shake it Up!) you'll want to check out "Bella Thorne's Makeover."

Blended isn't exactly an instant classic, but it's a blu-ray that will have a little something for everyone.

“Instruction in world history in the so-called high schools is even today in a very sorry condition. Few teachers understand that the study of history can never be to learn historical dates and events by heart and recite them by rote; that what matters is not whether the child knows exactly when this battle or that was fought, when a general was born, or even when a monarch (usually a very insignificant one) came into the crown of his forefathers. No, by the living God, this is very unimportant. To 'learn' history means to seek and find the forces which are the causes leading to those effects which we subsequently perceive as historical events.”
