Kidzworld saw the action/thriller Jason Bourne. Does the story about cyber-spying and an awesome car chase on the Las Vegas strip make it a must see? Check out our review.

Jason Bourne, a good guy spy and killer for our side, finds out that he was programmed from an early age and needs to learn his real name and history. Who was he? In the last Bourne film The Bourne Ultimatum, he appeared to drown but we saw him swim away. Sooo, did Jason continue his search undercover for who he is and why he ended up a CIA assassin? You bet!

An Old Friend Has Info

For several years, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) has been in hiding and participating in underground boxing matches to make enough money to survive. His life is pretty sad. Old fellow C.I.A. operative Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) is now working to expose government Black Ops plots. She lets Bourne know that his dad was involved in “Treadstone”, one of the earliest and worse. She gives him a flash drive with the info and the two of them try to escape C.I.A. assassins during a riot in Greece.

The “Asset”

Old enemy from the early Bourne films called “The Asset” (Vincent Cassel) has a personal vendetta against Bourne and is happy to be assigned to kill him. He chases Bourne through Berlin while ambitious cyber-expert C.I.A. agent Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander) tries to use high tech methods to corner Bourne. She claims to want to bring him in for information rather than kill him.

The Secret Plan

We learn that C.I.A. Director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) made a deal with a popular social media mogul (Riz Ahmed) to let the C.I.A. use a new platform that will turn over absolutely every detail about every user. To heck with privacy laws! There is a tech convention in Las Vegas where Dewey is now worried that the mogul will back out and reveal the plan.

Las Vegas Chase

As Bourne learns what really happened to his spy dad and why, he is after Dewey in revenge while Heather and The Asset stalk him. Is Heather actually on Bourne’s side or just aiming to climb the ladder at the C.I.A.? As the noose tightens, Bourne and The Asset engage in an all-out chase down Vegas Boulevard with The Asset smashing everything in an armored SWAT truck and Bourne in a hot muscle car. Who will survive? Will Bourne finally learn everything about his identity? Will the C.I.A. sneaky Black Ops division steal all of our information so that Americans have zero privacy?

Wrapping Up

Jason Bourne is packed with very creative and well-shot chases and super fast action but I could have used a few more, slow, character-building moments for this version of Bourne. He’s been out in the cold a long time. I would have liked to have seen more of a personal interaction with other characters. However, the modern-day plot about our personal rights, especially via the web versus protecting public safety is certainly timely and interesting.

This Bourne is for you if you are a bit older teen and can follow the plot or hey, if you just love fast-paced action sequences and amazing car chases with a new twist. We go three stars.
