Looney Tunes Back in Action Movie Review
Courtesy of Warner Bros.Ok, let's just set the record straight. I love Looney Tunes. In fact, everything you need to know about being funny you can learn from
Bugs Bunny. So you gotta be stoked that, after seven years (
Space Jam), Bugs is back up on the big screen. This time with
Brendan Fraser,
Steve Martin, not to mention Daffy, Tweety, Porky and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew.

Well, it seems that after years of taking a backseat to
Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck finally demands to have more screen time. Just like that he's fired, and escorted off the
movie lot by security guard DJ (played by
Brendan Fraser), but here comes the twist. DJ's famous actor-father is actually a
spy, who plays an
actor, who plays a
spy (got that?), and is being
held hostage by the infamous chairman of the Acme Corporation (played by Steve Martin). The
Acme chairman wants the powerful and mysterious Blue Diamond. So Daffy and DJ team-up and set out to try and find the diamond before the Chairman, and along the way they encounter several of Acme's operatives - including
Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martian and
Wile E. Coyote.
Of course Bugs can't let Daffy ruin his or, possibly, both their careers (after all, every rabbit needs his duck), so with the help of a studio exec (played by Jenna Elfman) they set off to convince Daffy to come back to Hollywood. That's right folks, this is a full-on, catch me if you can, cross-country road trip movie!
Looney Tunes - Laugh Riot
Well honestly gang, this flick has a lot going for it. The jokes are
flying fast in this one! The real stars here, though, are
Daffy Duck, Fraser and Martin. The three of them are
too funny. The interaction between Fraser and his
cartoon cohorts is totally believable. Steve Martin and
his wig are over the top, laugh-out-loud funny. It's as though he'd been waiting his entire career to
act opposite the Tunes.
Looney Tunes - Near Perfection
There's really nothing that's out of place here. The movie moves and feels like one of the classic
Looney Tunes cartoons, but is current enough to welcome new fans in. (Bugs says while fishing, "I think I
found Nemo.")
Looney Tunes Back in Action - Bottom Line
Looney Tunes Back in Action is great fun for adults and kids alike - it's silly without being stupid, and that's always a good thing.
