Scary Story - An Orphaned Outcast

Gilly Ground is a lonely 11 year-old boy. He is the most undesirable orphan at the town orphanage because he keeps to himself and doesn't make any friends. Also, Gilly is incredibly intelligent, but pretends to act dumb so that he won't bring any attention to himself. He purposely never learned to spell, which is why the book is titled Dorp Dead instead of Drop Dead. He chooses to live a life where he goes unnoticed - until one day.

Scary Story - A Chilling Discovery

A day comes when Gilly is adopted by Mr. Kobalt, an eccentric man who never speaks to anyone except his dog and the town grocer. Gilly is happy to leave the orphanage and live with a man who is quiet and prefers to keep to himself. Gilly enjoys his new life, until he learns the horrifying truth about Mr. Kobalt and what he plans to do to him!

Scary Story - Bottom Line

Dorp Dead is a good book to read to get you into the chilling mood of Halloween. Though this story doesn't contain any ghosts and goblins, Gilly does fight off monsters - of the human kind - in order to survive.
