Pac-Pix: Nintendo DS Game Review
Courtesy of Namco Pac-Man is one of the oldest video game heroes ever - older than
Mario, older than
Zelda and maybe even older than your
Mom. He just celebrated his
birthday on
May 11, 2005 and Namco just released a new
Pac-Man video game for the
Nintendo DS, Pac-Pix. Here's the scoop!
What's the Deal With Pac-Pix?
Basically it's a game about
drawing Pac-Man. You're supposed to save him from the
evil ghosts and you do it by drawing a picture of Pac-Man. Your Pac-Man picture comes to life (even if it's really
freaky looking!) and it's up to you to guide it around levels and through
boss battles.
Does Pac-Pix Give Pac-Man a Dose of Cool?
It gets really close! You can draw any kind of Pac-Man you want and play levels with some serious
freaks under your control. The whole game looks pretty
cartoon-ish and it isn't too hard so it's a nice
fun game to play that won't stress you out. Plus, you can get
extra moves that'll let you draw shapes to do other things.
Pac-Pix Video Game Weaknesses
Do you like doing stuff over and over and over again? Well, you'd better cuz you get to do a lot of the basic stuff about
10 billion times in Pac-Pix. It's cool at first, but starts to get boring after a while and the plain graphics don't help.
Pac-Pix - Old School or Old Skool?
It's a little
wacky, a little repetitive and pretty good. Pac-Pix is definitely a game worth
renting and, if you dig the Pacmeister, worth picking up for some serious game time.
Pac-Pix Thumbs Up:
Freakishly mutant Pac-Men under your command.
Easy for any player.
Cool cartoony levels.
Pac-Pix Thumbs Down:
Only a few basic moves means it gets old, fast.
