Deion's back, Charles Johnson complains about players breaking wind, and the Chicago Cubs are in first place. Here's a look at some of the feats and farts from the first quarter of the 2001 baseball season.

1Randy Johnson spent spring training nailing pigeons with his fastball, now he's striking out pretty much everyone. On May 8th, 2001 Randy struck out 20 guys in nine innings in a game against the Reds. But because the game ended up going 10 innnings, Randy won't get his name in the record books with Roger Clemens and Kerry Wood who have also struck out 20 in a game before.

1 The Cubs are in first place! Could this be the year the Chicago Cubs finally win a world series and end their drought that's lasted more than 90 years? If Slammin' Sammy keeps knocking them out of the park and their pitching doesn't fold, the Cubs have a chance.

1Deion Sanders is back catching balls and stealing bases. Deion has decided to give up his football job in Washington and play baseball full-time with the Cincinatti Reds. He still has a way to go before he's in prime form - but he's the best the Reds have while Ken Griffey Jr. recovers from a leg injury.

1Florida Marlins catcher, Charles Johnson, reveals to the world that one of the biggest hazards of being a catcher isn't catching fastballs and blocking the plate - it's hitters farting in the batter's box. "It happens all the time. A guy swings and misses and pfffffffft. Happens at least three or four times a week. It's so common you don't even laugh, but sometimes you don't know if it was the hitter or the umpire," says Charles.

What do you think of this year's baseball season? Who's been the best, who's been a strikeout. your comments to Kidzworld.

What's the Toughest Part About Being a Catcher?

    • Trying to catch a 100 mile per hour fastball.
    • Getting knocked over by a guy charging home.
    • Getting hit in the head with a batter's backswing.
    • Getting a wiff of a hitter after they've had a bean burrito for lunch.

Of course we can! It's true that we're a little less strong physically, but we can. "Can't" means just that, we can't. And that's wrong. It's true we have to deal with all that physical pain (I can whine about it for agesss) and mental pain too. And that some of us cry easily. But that's because we feel pain! So although we are less strong physically as I said earlier, girls can also think up ways to surprise someone in a fight. And that's a good thing to do to someone who laughs at a girl and says they cant fight.

Cheer-leading is a sport - most people think that it is not - but it is Yes it looks like they are just cheering on the football players - but their routines and being able to hold up girls over their head takes strength, and they work really hard to make everything look good.

I liked cheering for the underdog, so I've always cheered for the Cavs. I'd like to see how this year's line-up goes, though our past best point guard left for the Celtics.  :/
