Mountainboarding - Extreme Outdoor Sports

Mar 05, 2020

Looking for a wild way to get an adrenaline rush this summer? With a mountainboard, you can get that same rush of extreme sports no matter what the terrain or weather.

What Is A Mountainboard?

Mountain boards are a combination of a snowboard and a mountain bike. It's a board with bindings that has tires and a suspension on the bottom. The tires and suspension are really what make mountainboards so cool. They can be used anywhere - paved streets, dirt roads, sand dunes, grassy ski slopes or rocky terrain. You can even use mountainboards on a BMX track or in a skatepark. The possibilities are endless but freeways and through the mall aren't recommended (those fat, slobby mall security guys are always lookin' to bust someone.)

Mountainboard Safety

If you're just starting out on a mountainboard, you should definitely wear all the proper safety gear (it's much more painful wiping out on rocks or dirt than it is on snow) and get a board that comes with a braking system. For minimum injury and maximum fun, it's recommended you wear a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, gloves and a pair of sneakers with strong ankle support. For your first few rides, it's also a good idea to let some air out of the tires to slow you down a bit. Like any extreme sport, know your limits. Start out on a paved road or some easy terrain, then move on to the bigger hills with the bigger air.

If you're looking for a mountainboard to start out with, try the Mongoose Varmint. It's a lightweight board that is perfect for kids who weigh around 150 pounds (67 kilograms) or less. It comes with a leash, kick-butt graphics and a very awesome price - $135 US. To buy one and to watch cool mountainboard videos, click here.
