The hobbits hook up with the wizard Gandalf, Aragorn the ranger, Boromir the warrior from Gondor, Legolas the elf and Gimli the dwarf, to form the fellowship of the ring and kick some evil butt.

The Lord of the Rings' intro starts off with background info about how the evil super-sorcerer Sauron created the One Ring to 'Rule them all and in the darkness bind them.' Then it delivers a ton of special effects with huge armies going to war, evil wizards blasting stuff, sword fights and more action than the whole NFL season. Once you've recovered, the rest of The Lord of the Rings starts, and it's time to watch, as the fantasy world of Middle Earth is brought to life with awesome acting and incredible special effects.
The Lord of the Rings is loaded with fantasy cities, huge underground labyrinths, massive wizard towers and scary monsters. When the Cave Troll shows up and starts laying the smack down, it's time to hold your date's hand. When the Balrog rips up the screen, it's time to hold your mom's hand! Even the orcs are creepy monsters with freaky eyes and warped faces.
The Lord of the Rings isn't perfect though. It takes serious bladder control to last for three hours watching it straight through, but that's no problem now that The Lord of the Rings is available on DVD. There are also a few scenes where it's a little rough and where it starts to get boring.
Even with a few flaws The Lord of the Rings movie is totally worth watching at least once. Gary went twice to to see at in the theaters and he's gonna go rent the DVD!
