Loves Me, Loves Me Not
Ever since her baby brother Sam came home from the hospital, life has been
unbearable for Lulu Atlantis! She's forced to listen to her mom's lullabies and Sam's baby noises that sound cute to everyone but her. So she puts Harry in her pocket and sets off to find some
peace and quiet. Before we go any further, you should know that Harry is no ordinary
best friend. He's a top hat-wearing,
daddy long-legged spider who
no one else can see! First, they head to the Umbrella Tree, where they get scared off by a hairy spider who's no cousin of Harry. Then they visit Farmer Wallenhaupt's Frog Pond, where they
frog-nap a Frog Prince and get chased away by Farmer Wallenhaupt himself. Finally, they run off into the woods where they come across a
skunk whose head is stuck in a yogurt container. With
Harry's encouragement, Lulu realizes there's
no place like home and heads back to her mom and Sam.
Home Is Where the Heart Is
All's not well on the homefront though, as Lulu's mom is totally consumed with Sam's every waking need and doesn't seem to notice that Lulu is even alive! No matter how much she tries to help out, from visiting a group of gangster bakers to get a
secret ingredient that'll make everything taste delicious to fighting a
horrible monster that lives under Sam's bed, Lulu's mom just doesn't have
any spare time to play with her or make her favorite
breakfast. So Lulu goes on complainin' about how she's
unloved and continues to
search for the one person who loves her
more than anyone else in the whole wide world. Unfortunately for Lulu, she's
too blind to see that her
true blue love has been standing
right by her side this whole time! Will she realize who it is before it's too late?
Bottom Line
If you're in the mood for a
cute story about a
cute little girl, then Lulu Atlantis and the Quest for True Blue Love is the book for you. With a sweet message about friendships and how
true friends will stick with you to the bitter end, it'll make you
stretch your imagination to places it's never gone before.
