Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back :: Mobile Game Review

Battle Imperial forces, dodge asteroids, use the force and duel with Darth Vader himself. And all on a cell phone! We review this game.
Courtes of THQ

THQ has a dose of fun for your cell phone with their Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back game! It lets you jump into the action of the second original Star Wars movie to battle the Empire and Darth Vader across the galaxy as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. Is this pint-sized mobile game giant fun? Find out with our game review!

Whiz! Bang! Wheee!

This Star Wars game starts you off piloting a snowspeeder against giant Imperial AT-ATs on Hoth, then tosses you into space as you dodge TIE Fighters through an asteroid field, explore the jungle of Dagobah, battle Stormtroopers in a city in the sky, and even have a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader!

The Light Side

With more than a half-dozen levels, and a few different ways to play, this game gives you a lot of variety. It's also cool to be able to check out the action from the movie, even if it is one of the 20 year-old ones.

The Dark Side

Be careful as you play! Hitting the wrong button can easily shut your game down and make you start the level over again. The lightsaber-fighting controls are a bit sluggish too, it's like swinging underwater...

Can You Feel the Force?

With a nice selection of levels, some classic Star Wars action, and higher difficulty settings to challenge your skills, this game is solid! A few control problems kick the fun factor in the shins, but it's still a good game.

Thumbs Up:

  • Lots of different game modes.
  • Bust up Stormtroopers with your lightsaber!
  • Duel with Darth Vader (good luck!)
  • Thumbs Down:

  • Easy to accidentally drop out of your game.
  • Lightsaber controls are a bit sluggish.
  • Game Rating:

    Available for: Cell Phones.
