Dumb Song Lyrics

Remember that saying your mom may have told you - if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all? Well, I think it holds true in music too but the theory would be, if you don't have anything worth while to sing - don't sing anything at all.

Some of the stupidest lyrics ever are by the band Hanson and their song Mmm Bop. The chorus of the song is, "Mmm bop, ba duba dop - Ba du bop, ba duba dop - Ba du bop, ba duba dop - Ba du - Mmm bop, ba duba dop - Ba du bop, Ba du dop - Ba du bop, Ba du dop - Ba du."

Okay, I think these boys need to lay off the sugar. If anyone knows what this tribal sounding nonsense means, - please! The funny thing is, this song has been the biggest hit the band has had so far.

Another tune with hurtin' lyrics is Kid Rock's Bawitdaba. I think he needs to give his head a shake with these words. "Bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy." Come on, anyone could come up with a better line.

Alanis Morissette had a bunch of hits but Unsent was definitely not one of them. The first time I heard this tune it was playing in a Virgin Megastore and I actually caught myself laughing out loud. It sounds like Alanis is making the words up as she goes along. Not to mention that she paints herself out to be a major tool in the song.

This is just one verse from this song, "Dear Matthew I like you a lot - I realize you're in a relationship - with someone right now and I respect - that I would like you to know that if you're ever single - in the future and you want to come visit me in California - I would be open to spending time with you and finding out how old you were when you wrote your first song." What were you thinking Alanis? You outta know better.

So, I was surfing the 'net and found your dumb lyrics article. I am a fan of Hanson and wouldn't be surprised if you stopped reading this now. The chorus of Mmm Bop is stupid, I'll admit that, but have you actually listened to the rest of the song? If you're smart enough to put it together, you will get what it all means. Listen to some of the lyrics on other songs, especially on This Time Around, their follow up album and I'm sure you will be amazed at what the Mmm Bop boys have become. If you are going to bash them, give them the credit they deserve as well.

I stromgly have to disagree with Kitkat86. I used to be a Hanson fan, until I realized they can't write [or sing] at all. Has anyone ever heard any other songs that aren't obsessed fans?

A silly song can cause a lot of grief for an artist. I think there are some songs that are better left on the cutting room floor. Do you know any songs with dumb lyrics? If so, the words and why you think they're dumb.
