Killer Explosion

Feb 02, 2009

More than 100 people have been killed in Kenya in Africa after a truck carrying fuel exploded.

The fuel tanker was near the town of Molo when it crashed, spilling gas all over the road. Lots of people gathered around to try to collect the fuel.

At some point the spilled gas caught fire and the tanker exploded, killing at least 111 people and hurting more.

Officials don't know exactly how the fire started, but are worried that the number of people killed could rise.

Some people think a lit cigarette may have started the blaze, while others say it was lit on purpose.

The incident comes just days after a devastating fire at a supermarket in the Kenyan capital Nairobi killed at least 25 people.
