April 2012: Special Days

Mar 31, 2015

Every month has its fair share of holidays and special days of celebration and coming together for a good cause, and April is no exception! Check out the Kidworld Guide to April Special Days below to find out more on how you can celebrate and show you care this month!

Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month. Autism is a neurological or brain disorder that causes developmental disability. The disease affects the way the brain works; people with autism may have problems with communication, social interaction and unusual patterns of behaviour, activities and interests.

International Guitar Month

April is International Guitar Month! So get out your guitar (or go out and find one) and strum a few chords. If you don’t know how to play the guitar but have always wanted to try, this is a good month to sign up for a few lessons!

Keep America Beautiful Month

April is Keep America Beautiful Month. Let’s all do our best to keep the country and the whole world clean and garbage-free. Don’t ever litter and, if you see a piece of garbage on the ground, why not pick it up and put it where it belongs – in the trash?!

National Frog Month

Have a croaking good time and celebrate our little green friends! Why not have a frog party – you can play leap frog, practice your croaking and maybe even learn a little more about frogs by logging on to the Internet or cracking open a book about amphibians.
