Hockey Games, Mario & Luigi, and Need for Speed

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we preview two new Hockey Games, Mario & Luigi RPG 3: Bowser's Inside Story, and Need for Speed: Shift!

NHL 10 v. NHL 2k10

The new hockey games are out! Hockey has always been the most fun sport to game for me, and this year we've got two great choices for realistic hockey action! NHL 10 from [kwlilnk 7156]EA Sports[/kwlink] has unbelievable atmosphere, with great graphics for even the fans in the crowd and tons of action even after the whistle. It looks great, but there's no Wii version, unfortunately. NHL 2k10 by 2k Sports, on the other hand, has Wii Motion Plus support for true, realistic control over your stick and how you hit the puck (on the Wii only, of course). Every console gets online play, though, and their controls have been improved this year.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

The third Mario & Luigi handheld RPG is out for the DS this week. The awesome thing about this one? You play as Bowser! Bowser has sort of eaten the titular Mario brothers, and they have to control him from inside his body! A little odd, yes, but the crazy stories are actually one good part about these games. Got a DS? Got money for a game? It's a must for you, then.

Need for Speed: Shift

This Need for Speed continues to push the envelope for amazing-looking and playing racing games. You now get a "Driver Profile" which keeps track of how you drive either in the career mode or online, and sounds just really cool. That profile determines which sort of cars you unlock, too. The rest of the action is all still there, with even better mechanics and graphics and everything. This classic racing series will keep you on edge for gripping, intense, pure racing.

I think it's impossible to compare the two... The Wii is great for its local multiplayer--there are countless games that you can play with your family! Nintendo makes a lot of unique games that are exclusive to their consoles... One could argue that their first-party games are better than the Xbox's. The Wii remote takes some getting used to, but when you do, it makes for a very unique way to play! The Xbox 360 is more like a standard console, and that's not a bad thing at all! The Xbox has a simple controller and a better third-party library. Also, the Xbox can handle HD graphics unlike the Wii. I find this console is great for single player games, and for going online to face off against other people from around the world. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd probably choose the Wii, but only for nostalgia and the fact that I've owned my Wii longer. The Xbox is still an incredible console and ranks up there with my other favorites! :)
