Top 10 Movie Animals
With Flicka and Carrie’s friendship at the heart of the story, we take a look back at some other popular animal characters in our all-time favourite films!
No. 10: Mr. Fox
Movie: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Why we love him: Mr. Fox is great husband and dad! He outsmarts a group of mean old farmers in order to provide for his friends and family.
No. 9: Dr. Dolittle
Movie: Dr. Dolittle
Why we love him: OK, so he's not really an animal (well, technically, humans are animals - but that's a different story), Dr. D (played by Eddie Murphy) CAN talk to critters - and boy do they talk back! From rats to racehorses, the good doctor is called upon for more medical advice than he can handle.
No. 8: Prince Naveen
Movie: The Princess and the Frog
Why we love him: After seeing this film, we no longer think of frogs as slimy, ugly creatures. The dashing Prince Naveen is transformed into a frog due to a nasty curse and must find his one true love to kiss him and turn him back to his old self.
No. 7: The Chipettes
Movie: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
Why we love them: Jeanette, Brittany and Eleanor are the female counterparts of the extremely famous male chipmunks better known as Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Brittany is the go-getter of the girl group while Jeanette is the brainy one. Eleanor seems to like her food just as much as Theodore!
No. 6: Darwin
Why we love him: This guinea pig does some pretty impressive things: he solves crimes, programs computers and, of course, saves the world.
No. 5: Carol
Movie: Where the Wild Things Are
Why we love her: A cross between an animal and a monster, Carol's a wild creature with big feelings who just wants her friends to be happy.
No. 4: Dug
Why we love him: Dug's adoring smile and big brown eyes will make every dog lover see this movie over and over. Plus, who could ignore a talking dog?
No. 3: Babe
Why we love him: An orphaned piglet discovers his true calling as a sheep dog on a sleepy Australian farm. Raised by a border collie, Babe rises through the barnyard ranks, gathering up sheep, along with his courage and self-respect.
No. 2: Baloo
Movie: The Jungle Book
Why we love him: Baloo is an easygoing and fun-loving character that lives a pretty carefree lifestyle. When Mowgli gets lost in the jungle, Baloo takes him under his wing and the two become fast friends.
No. 1: Simba
Movie: The Lion King
Why we love him: Tricked into thinking he killed his father, Simba the lion cub gives up his dreams of being future king ... you’ll have to watch the movie to find out if he takes back the kingdom that is rightfully his!
