Klutz: My Style Studio Review

Here’s one book you won’t regret buying. My Style Studio from Klutz lets you design and trace your very own fashions – the perfect practice for all aspiring fashion designers out there!

Style Studio

The book looks like a platform with a white box attached. The box contains colored pencils, a sharpener, eraser and inking marker – pretty much everything you need to create your own fashion designs. It’s also got a book with folder pockets to keep your clings, patters, figure sheet and tracing paper.

Tips & Tricks

While this kit is totally Do-It-Yourself, it also comes with tons of handy tips and tricks to help you along the way, including:

  • Color combinations for different seasons – with examples.
  • How to layer and use colored pencils to get more than just eight basic colors.
  • Easy step-by-step instructions on how to use My Style Studio
  • Examples of techniques you can try to make the clings and pattern plates very flexible in design.
  • How to easily make more tracing paper sheets that fit the white work area.

Exciting Extras

The book also contains extras for tracing earrings, buttons, bows, accessories; there are even patterns you can trace onto clothing. Combined with the clings, which include hair and faces in addition to the clothing, you basically don’t need to draw anything free by hand (though you definitely can if you want to!).

Body Image Bonus

This might just be the best thing about this fab book. At the very beginning, there’s a little mention about how the basic model shape is not realistic. Instead, it’s an ideal fashion shape that doesn’t appear in the real world (so don’t ever expect your own or anyone else’s body to look like a fashion model!).

("wow.. Maybe I can help you some time." PunMaster offered) he landed on a rock below, and Paperjam was about twenty ahead of him. "Great Job! Now let's go!"

"Oh. Um, OK..." I closed my eyes, and jumped. I hoped that I'd land on something. (("Um, I did. It's today." Paps chuckled. "You have no idea how many people I had to enlist..."))

Error didn't answer, he just glanced up giving him a sort of look like 'are you really that clueless?' then went back to his game. Paperjam was visible on a floating rock down below, and he started jumping from rock to rock,. "come on!"  (PunMaster nodded. "If it's tiring, haven't you ever asked to get a break, have someone else do it for you for at least a day?")

"Kid! What the heck are you doing? And what am I supposed to do?" I said this last part to PJ's dad, who barely took notice of me, glued to his phone's screen. (("I've been delivering messages in-between cities of the Underground for my brother. It gets really tiring sometimes, but Iron says I've been helping a lot, so I do my best!" He sighed.))

Paperjam grinned. "Come on!" Paperjam grabbed Iron's hand, then ran along the path, until they came to an edge a little way away from where error had been... Only Error was there, sitting on the ground this time, still on his phone. Paperjam let go of Iron's hand, and looked out over the edge, waiting... then he suddenly jumped off the edge, plummeting. Error seemed to have little to no concern about what was occuring.  ("Hmm.. recently? I've been drawing, writing stories, roleplaying.. it's fun." PunMaster shrugged. "You?" )
