Super Mario Galaxy 2, ModNation Racers, and Blur Previews

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Nintendo's sequel to Super Mario Galaxy gives us the same awesome space-based 3D platformer gameplay with some new additions, including Yoshis and a playable Luigi! You know the drill: Bowser has taken the Princess, and you've gotta get her back by collecting stars (or lumas, in this case). Yoshi's here to help this time, swinging by his tongue and eating fruits for power-ups. Another new feature, like in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if you're having too much trouble with a level, the "cosmic guide" will play through part of it for you so you can see how its done before beating it yourself. Get stoked: Mario is back.

ModNation Racers

The PS3's big kart racing game is coming out this week, using the same "Play, Create, Share" idea of LittleBigPlanet in this genre. You design the karts, you design the racers, and best of all, you design the tracks. (There are levels built in too, the developers weren't just forcing you to do the work for them!) The track creator is shockingly easy to use for how deep it is, and now you can put in all the hairpin turns, course decorations, and clever shortcuts you can think of. Then besides all that, there's some pretty sweet racing gameplay going on here.

Blur

Real cars + crazy, power-up filled racing gameplay. If you've ever been ticked that Gran Turismo cars couldn't get damaged, then this is the game for you, because you can tear those Dodge Vipers and Lotus Exiges to shreds if you want. But there's a little bit of Mario Kart in here as well, as racers get power-ups to knock each other out of the race. Bring your friends (the game's got 4-player split-screen) and enjoy the ride.
