Lucas Cruikshank Q&A

Oct 06, 2010

We recently had a chance to ask Lucas Cruikshank - better known as Fred Figglehorn - 10 burning questions about his life and his hilarious YouTube alter ego!

Kidzworld: What was it like finding out that your YouTube channel, “Fred,” had reached 1,000,000 subscribers?

  • Lucas: I was extremely thankful for all the fans! Definitely couldn't have done that without them.

Kidzworld: What was your reaction when you found out “Fred” was going to be made into a movie?

  • Lucas: I was so excited because it gave me the chance to show all the fans the whole entire world of Fred.

Kidzworld: When you created the Fred character, did you draw inspiration from other YouTube celebs?

  • Lucas: Yeah, I had watched a lot of YouTube and I was definitely inspired by some of them.

Kidzworld: What’s your favorite thing about Fred?

  • Lucas: My favorite thing about Fred is that he is confident even though nobody really understands him.

Kidzworld: How did you come up with Fred’s crazy voice? Is it hard to talk like that when you're filming an entire movie?

  • Lucas: It was just something I added to the character while creating it. There was a few times during the filming of the movie that I thought I might lose my voice, but luckily I never actually did.

Kidzworld: What's the coolest thing that's happened to you since Fred Figglehorn became so popular?

  • Lucas: I've gotten to meet so many talented people!

Kidzworld: What were some of the big differences between filming “Fred” as a movie and taping it as a YouTube episode?

  • Lucas: It takes a lot longer and there's a lot more people throwing in their ideas.

Kidzworld: What was your favorite moment from the “Fred” movie set?

  • Lucas: Seeing the characters I created come to life.

Kidzworld: What is the craziest or coolest thing a fan has done for you?

  • Lucas: One time a fan drove over eight hours to attend an autograph signing. Crazy!

Kidzworld: What do you think of all the “Fred” impersonators?

  • Lucas: I think it's all funny. I don't take myself too seriously.

Kidzworld: What other projects do you have coming up in the future?

  • Lucas: I have a Nickelodeon sitcom being created right now, so that'll be exciting

Fred: The Movie is now available on DVD!

But that's like waaayyyy after the Justice League. Which comic was this because the only man in any DC continuity that has ever "killed" Superman was Doomsday. Are you sure that wasn't an Elseworld story?
