The Vampire Diaries: Season 2 Episode 6 Recap

Oct 20, 2010

Mason dies, Stefan cries and Katherine moves on to Plan B. Find out what happened on this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries.

This week’s episode was all about broken promises. Mason promised Katherine he would give her the moonstone, Katherine promised Mason they would live happily ever after, and Stefan promised Elena everything would be okay. None of these promises came true.

Promises #1 and #2

Bonnie’s back, and as usual, is instrumental in the plan to take down the bad guys. After she bumps into Mason and gets a vision about his connection with Katherine, she tips off Stefan and Damon. They use Bonnie’s special powers to weaken Mason and take him back to the Salvatore house. Bonnie learns that the moonstone has been hidden in an old well and she teams up with Caroline, Stefan and Elena to try to find it.

Meanwhile, Damon uses his techniques of persuasion to elicit information from Mason about the moonstone’s purpose. Turns out, Mason is just as naive as the Salvatore brothers used to be, and has fallen under Katherine’s spell. While he reveals that he wants the moonstone to release him from the werewolf curse, he believes the only reason Katherine wants it is so they can live together forever. Frustrated, Damon decides to kill Mason, enraging Katherine in the process.

Promise #3

After Katherine’s Plan A is ruined, she moves on to Plan B. Like always, this plan involves breaking up Stefan and Elena. It appears that Katherine has been manipulating Elena’s aunt Jenna by taking away her vervain and compelling her to spy on Elena and Stefan. Near the end of the episode Katherine compels Jenna to hurt herself in front of Rick and Elena. Luckily, she doesn’t kill herself but she still ends up in the hospital. Elena realizes that as long as she and Stefan are together Katherine will come after every person she loves. In a surprising move, she breaks up with Stefan.

How long with Stefan and Elena stay apart? Is this Damon’s chance to step in? Will Tyler become the next werewolf in Katherine’s plan? Expect big moves in next week’s Halloween episode and stay tuned for more Vampire Diaries.

Would you ever want to become a vampire?

  • Yes! That would be incredible!
  • No, who wants to live forever?
  • Maybe, but only if my friends could be too!
  • Probably not, you can't eat anything.
