She & Him celebrates the holiday season with the release of A Very She & Him Christmas. Find out whether you will be rocking around the Christmas tree with this festive album.

She & Him

She & Him is a musical compilation between actress Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. They became friends after meeting on the set of The Go-Getter, a film that Zooey starred in and M. Ward created the music for. The director asked them to perform a duet for the movie, so they recorded a version of ‘When I Get to the Border’ by Richard and Linda Thompson. Immediately the duo found they enjoyed performing and making music with each other.

In 2008 they formed the band She & Him and released their first album, Volume One. The tracks reflected their interest in indie folk music. Their second album, Volume Two, was released in 2010. Their songs have been featured in TV shows and movies like 500 Days of Summer and New Girl.

A Very She & Him Christmas

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward decided to celebrate the 2011 holiday season with a special collection of Christmas tunes. The album was released in October, and all of their tracks were inspired by classic holiday albums from older artists like Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys. The album retains their indie folk vibe while adding a hint of Christmas cheer. If you love She & Him’s first two albums you won’t want to miss out on this one either.

Track List

There are 12 songs included on A Very She & Him Christmas:

  • The Christmas Waltz
  • Christmas Day

  • Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”
