The Pirates! Band of Misfits Movie Review
Pirate Captain will stop at nothing to win the Pirate of the Year award. Kidzworld has the movie review of The Pirates! Band of Misfits, which hit theaters on April 27, 2012.
Pirate of the Year
Pirate Captain and his motley shipmates arrive on Blood Island where the Captain plans to nominate himself as Pirate of the Year. But when his three fierce competitors show up, he knows he doesn’t stand a chance. Back on the high seas, he begins looting one ship after another without any gold to show for it. It’s not until he winds up on the ship of Charles Darwin, the famous naturalist, that he learns that he’s had the most valuable treasure all along.
The Dodo Bird
Charles Darwin immediately recognizes Pirate Captain’s bird, Polly, as a dodo bird, not the fat parrot they always thought he was. Dodo birds were believed to be extinct. Now Charles wants to bring Polly to a science convention in London where he’s sure to win the prize for best scientific discovery. There are only two problems: Pirate Captain insists on presenting Polly himself, and Queen Victoria absolutely hates pirates.
Friendship vs. Fame
Hidden beneath clever disguises, Pirate Captain arrives in London. He and his crew must keep Polly safe, lest he be stolen by the greedy Darwin and his faithful monkey servant. But when the Queen learns that Pirate Captain is, in fact, a pirate, she offers him a deal. In exchange for the dodo bird, she will give him mounds of gold, enough that he will undoubtedly win Pirate of the Year. Pirate Captain must decide what is more important to him: Polly, the crew’s inspiration and best pal; or winning a prestigious award.
