Fabulous Flip Flop Styles

We love summer because in the warmer months, socks come off and toes come out to play in the sun! To celebrate the arrival of flip flop season, we checked out the hottest thong sandal styles and came up with our seven favorite, most comfortable, durable and stylish.

Havianas

Designer Missoni and Shoemaker Haviana have teamed up to create a fabulously zigzagged, super stylish and eco-friendly flip flop. According to fashion reporters at WWD, "the signature Missoni zigzag pattern on each sandal is crafted from rubber leftover from the manufacturing process and each pair is packaged in recyclable material within a Missoni knit bag." Plus, rumor has it they're on A-list star Ashlee Simpson's hot list this season, too.

Crocs

When you hear crocs, you probably think of the rubbery clogs with holes for Jibbets, but think again. These flip flops with comfy suede nubuck straps feel as fabulous as they look. With a molded rubber base and raised toe box, they hug your sole in all the right places. Pick your color, pick your size, pair it with anything you please, just wear them every day and you may find true shoe bliss.

Keen

Keen shoes are known for their sheer simplicity -- a few straps tie a sole to your foot and you're good to go. The new La Paz thongs are hot because they're not just simple, they're stylish, colorful and comfy, too. Like most Keen shoes, they have adjustable nylon straps and a molded footbed to provide all-day comfort and support for people who like to get moving and look good, too.

Birkenstock

Put down your tambourines and patchouli. These are not the Birkenstocks from a bygone Hippie era. New and improved styles feature the same singnature Birk cork footbed (100% renewable and sustainable, for those of you keeping eco-score), adjustable leather buckles, and shock absorbing contoured sole for foot health and comfort. This particular design, Sparta, fits the flip flop description with it's thong toe, but takes the lead in support. Put these on for another reason to want summer to last forever.

Sanuk

The manufacturer, Sanuk, calls it "a vacation for your feet", and we must say where these stylish cuties are concerned, they deliver on comfort. For one thing, they're made from real yoga mats. How cool is that? If you're still keeping eco-score, they're also vegan and vegetarian, since the leather-like straps are actually fake leather. Pick a color -- this one comes in 10 different shade combos -- and see foryourself why reviewers say they feel like they're walking on air.

Teva

For after a hike or a stroll around town, these cute strappy wedges are a great fit. Pair them with a long, flowing skirt, shorts and a tee or your favorite sundress, they will make your feet look good and won't let you down in the comfort department, either. Built to last, these classic sandals won't go out of style so you can keep tossing them in your weekend bag, beach bag or camp suitcase until you grow out of them.

Volcom

These super cute, oh so stylish and mostly comfy flip flops top our list for style points and get an A for effort in the comfort department. The only shoes in our top 7 list that are completely flat, there's not much you can do with a pancake sole when it comes to comfort and support. But Volcom does their best, with a polyurethane footbed for softness and a thin knotted faux leather toe strap. Best of all, they're cute, they're sassy, and they go with everything.

Is there a particular reason or situation causing you to feel this way? I can't provide much advice other than talk to them about it. Communication is important.

No. I don't like those people at the mall. Sometimes, they ask my family and I (usually directed at my mom and sister, but sometimes at me, too. Even though I'm under 13. Not for long though.) if they want their hair done. And sometimes I'm so tempted to say, "No thank you. I did my hair today. Do you think I want it done?" But of course I never do. It's kinda disrespectful. So we just usually say No thank you. My mom, sister, and I now have a solution for that (my idea when I was maybe ages 9-11) Don't make eye contact with them and pretend that they aren't there.
