Kick off your shoes and invite some friends over for some mini-games with Kinect Party! Check out our game review for more details!

Kinect Party is the sequel to the popular Double Fine Happy Action Theatre made by the developer Double Fine. Kinect Party can be downloaded from XBox Live Arcade for only 800 MS Points and features 36 different mini-games that all uses the Kinect motion controller in some way or another.

Party Time!

All 18 mini-games, called "channels" from the original Double Fine Happy Action Theatre are included in Kinect Party. This means that only 18 of the channels in Kinect Party are actually brand new. Each channel will have you doing something different. You can be popping balloons or running in a desert valley. The mini-games are very simple and easy to learn. In fact, if you are on Auto-Play you can just follow the instructions on the screen while playing the game and you will be fine. Kinect Party can include up to six players, provided that you have enough room for all of them in front of your TV! Pets can also join in on the fun as the Kinect motion camera can pick up on their jumping.

Double Fine Indeed

There is a lot of action and fun to be had, but there are no scores or real objectives. Unfortunately, this means it is easy to get bored of Kinect Party quickly. However, it is meant to be a party game and the fact that it is easy to pick up and play means it is great to bring out whenever friends or family are over. Younger kids will definitely enjoy the fast-paced Auto-Play mode that constantly brings in a new game every few minutes. They will also benefit from all the activity as games will have them jumping and waving their hands like crazy. For older kids, the lack of scoring and the overly simple nature of the games will probably get boring quickly. Overall, Kinect Party is a decent and well-made party game for the Kinect motion controller, but it will only be fun for a short while.
