Avan Jogia Bio

Jun 11, 2013

Canadian boy Avan Jogia is best known from the show Victorious. Find out more in his Kidzworld bio.

Canadian Roots

Avan Jogia hails from Vancouver, Canada (the home of many Canadian celebs!). Growing up, he knew he wanted to be in actor. He decided to drop out of school halfway through high school to pursue acting full time. During the beginning of his career, Avan had roles in several made-for-TV movies like A Girl Like Me and Gym Teacher: A Movie.

Victorious

In 2010 Avan landed his first major role as Beck Oliver in the Nickelodeon show Victorious. Beck is the boyfriend of Jade, one of the main characters on the show. Like Avan, the character is Canadian. Being on Victorious gave Avan the exposure he needed to take the next step in his career.

Twisted

In 2013 Avan was cast as Danny, the lead in the brand new ABC Family show Twisted. Danny is 16-years-old and has just returned home after spending five years in juvenile detention. But, things are not the same as when he left. His two best friends, Jo and Lacey, have drifted apart and no longer speak. When another student at their high school is found dead, Danny becomes the prime suspect because of his troubled past.

Did You Know?

  • He found the PSA organization Straight But Not Narrow
  • Is best friends with Josh Hutcherson
  • His signature look is his wild, unruly hair

What's not to like? Its got a story, its got artwork which gets better every year and it's a lot of fun. You can get attached to the characters, feel emotion, etc. Its the same with reading a book, watching anime or even a movie. It just happens to be in a different format.  [This may seem weird but when I'm reading a manga I can hear the sounds]

It's easier to relate to a fictional character like naruto, natsu, fluffy, and indigo than it is to relate to real life people
