Nov 14, 2016

By: Max Cannon

If you're lucky enough to live in Canada and be in the market for some new Nintendo goodies, than do I have some good news for you. From now until November 17th, Nintendo is teaming up with retailers to throw out some great deals for some great new toys.

Nintendo's Newest/Oldest Toy

Regardless of where you live, the NES Classic Edition has seen its official release as of November 11th, 2016. This tiny version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, that first hit store shelves back in 1985, features 30 different classic games playable without changing out cartridges. So you get sit crosslegged in front of your TV, with a controller styled after the original, like you're 10 years old again. But you'll need to be watchful, Nintendo didn't make too many of them so they're already hard to find. Many retailers have confirmed that they'll have more soon, but you'll probably need to act fast if you want to scoop one up.

Introducing The NES Classic

For someone who has never played the console, this is a great way to try your hand at 30 of the most best - and most important - games of all time. Everything from the original Super Mario Bros to The Legend of Zelda is here and a few lesser played gems like the first Final Fantasy and Ninja Gaiden. And if you have played through these iconic games before, well then what better way to relive the golden days of gaming - short of playing on the actual console itself.

Deals, Deals, Deals

The NES Classic Edition's release isn't the only offer Nintendo has up for grabs. Depending on which store you swing by, you could pick up amiibos, new Pokémon games, or a NEW 3DS XL for a cheaper price than usual. Check out the full list Nintendo provided us.

  • Looking to add to a growing amiibo collection? From November 11 to 17, save $6 on amiibo purchased through Amazon.ca, or head to Toys“R”Us for a buy 2, get one 1 free amiibo offer (valid until November 17).

  • Finally, prepare for the launch of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon at Best Buy or bestbuy.ca - get $5 off great Pokémon games. Happy shopping!"

It's definitely a good time to pick up some amiibos as well because Nintendo recently ceased production on the Wii U, meaning those accessories are seeing some of their final days. With the Nintendo Switch around the corner, better late than never to pick some up!
