Jun 04, 2018

By: Max Cannon

At the start of each monthSony and Microsoft release a slew of "free" games on their respective platforms if you are already paying for an online subscription for either company. Up until March 8, 2019, you won't need the newest console to take part as both PlayStation Plus and Xbox's Games With Gold offer games on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and even PlayStation Vita.)

The New Games of PlayStation Plus

Starting Tuesday, June 5th you can get these upcoming games for free if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription.

  • XCOM 2 (PlayStation 4)
  • Trials Fusion (PlayStation 4)
  • Zombie Driver HD (PlayStation 3)
  • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (PlayStation 3)
  • Atomic Ninjas (PlayStation Vita)
  • Squares (PlayStation Vita)

PlayStation Plus - June 2018 | XCOM 2 + Trials Fusion | PS Plus Monthly Games

Here's how PlayStation describes their big games of the month:

"First up, we have XCOM 2. This tactical, turn-based strategy game is sure to keep you engaged. Twenty years have passed since humanity lost the war against the alien invaders and a new world order now exists on Earth. Join and lead the XCOM forces as they rise up to eliminate the alien occupation of Earth."  XCOM 2 is rated M for Mature by the ESRB for Blood, Use of Tobacco, Violence.

"Next is the ultimate platform-racing game, Trials Fusion. Using your skills, strive to set track records against the best Trials players from around the globe. Whether you’re racing alone, with friends, or in a global tournament, competition is always around you." Trials Fusion is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB with Mild Language, Mild Violence.

XCOM 2 is a mature rated strategy game where players defend Earth from alien invaders. And Trials Fusion is an arcade classic that requires great precision as well as balance to navigate a handful of tricky motorcycle courses. Both awesome games but Trials is what has me excited.

Here's how Xbox described their big games of the month:

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia

"In the final chapter of the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles trilogy, play as the assassin Nikolai Orelov as you continue the centuries-old battle against the Templars. Set in the backdrop of the October Revolution in early 20th century Russia, you must infiltrate the Templar base, steal back an ancient treasure, and rescue the princess in this exciting 2.5D action-adventure." Rated T for Teen on Xbox's site but there is no listing on the ESRB.

My Winner This Month:

A decent month on both sides but I'd give to edge to Xbox for their 360 games which include a quality racing game and a LEGO adventure.
