Rumored Reveals at The Game Awards 2018

Aside from the awards, there are going to be some big surprises at the show.

The Game Awards will obviously hand out awards to some of the biggest and best games of 2018 but the show will also make some huge reveals and announcements about upcoming games. We've heard a handful of rumors about what we'll see but we've compiled a list of some of the most likely games to make an appearance.

3. Crash Team Racing

2017's remaster of Crash Bandicoot showed that there was still some interest in that classic franchise. However, while we got to return to those platformers from the PlayStation 1 era, we were missing Crash Bandicoot's beloved racing game. Though Activision, the publisher currently responsible for releasing the Crash Bandicoot games, hasn't confirmed anything about a return there have been hints from others. Hollie Bennett, who works with PlayStation Access, showed off a pair of orange colored fuzzy dice on Twitter alongside a note that read as "sliding into the Game Awards." So there will certainly be some sort of announcement and reports from some well-connected outlets like EuroGamer seem to confirm that we will definitely see Crash Team Racing for PS4 at the show.

2. Metroid Prime Trilogy

Back in 2017, during Nintendo's E3 Direct, we got a brief teaser announcing Metroid Prime 4 and continues the story of Samus Aran. There hasn't been much information since then and players are looking to get caught up before the new game releases considering it's been a decade since Metroid Prime 3 released on the Wii. So this rumor of a Metroid Prime Trilogy being remastered for the Switch would be fantastic if true. The series kicked off way back on the GameCube at such an early time that the controls wouldn't hold up by today's standards, so a remaster could really modernize these classic and beloved games.

This rumor has been kicking around because a Sweedish store put the game up for pre-order citing a likely announcement at the 2018 Game Awards. This doesn't feel as concrete as the Crash Team Racing but we can hold out hope that we'll be seeing these games running on Switch in the near future.

1. The Avengers

We've known that Square Enix is deep into production on an Avengers game for a while now but we haven't seen anything representative of the actual game. Everyone was hoping for a little information during Square Enix's E3 show but we didn't get a drop of details. So why should we expect to see anything at the Game Awards? Well, this has been a big week for Marvel with a new Captain Marvel trailer revealing early on in the week and a new Spider-Man movie trailer coming this weekend, what better time to show off an Avengers game trailer? Also, the Russo brothers are confirmed to make an appearance at the show who are most known for directing Avengers: Infinity War. I'd say this rumor is a safe bet for the show.
