To win the National Championship you have to play, and win, each round. The four matches are held in November on each Sunday. If you lose a round you can try again next November.

Unfortunately, sometimes there's a glitch and Grandpa/Trusdale won't become unlocked, even after you beat Simon. If that happens, you'll probably have to restart your Yu-Gi-Oh! game.
