Jerry - The XFL Ball Boy

Dec 27, 2006

Jerry is a kid with one very cool job. He hangs out with football superstars and gets to go to games for free. He's the ball boy for the XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws. Jerry's job is to give the Referee or Linesmen a new game ball whenever a ball is kicked or thrown out of bounds. It can actually be a pretty tiring job because Jerry has to be following the game at all times and it means he's running up and down the sidelines all night.

But Jerry doesn't mind, because he loves his job. "It's awesome. The XFL is a great game, and I know all the players on the team, and they're great guys," he says while cutting through a maze of players and cameramen on the sideline, so he can hand the Ref another ball.

So how did Jerry get this job? "My coach at school set me up with it. I came out to one of the practices and they liked me, so they let me stay on for all the home games," says Jerry. He's met all the players and all the cute cheerleaders -now if only they'd give him a raise. "They still don't pay me any money yet. But I'm working on it. I do get some free clothes like hats and shirts, but it's still awesome." Jerry is 14 and is going to start playing football next year. He wants to be a tight end or a wide receiver.
