Get the scoop on the Star Wars Miniatures: Revenge of the Sith expansion set from Wizards of the Coast!

While you're waiting for the Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith movie, the Star Wars Miniatures: Revenge of the Sith set is out and it's loaded with movie spoilers, cool toys and gaming fun! Here's our review of this new game from Wizards of the Coast!

Star Wars Miniatures Game Basics!

The game is a strategy battle game in which you control 1" plastic figures of all your favorite Star Wars characters. You get the figs from the Starter Game or Booster Packs and can collect them like trading cards. Each player builds a team of Star Wars characters by spending points on figures. Stronger characters cost more than the weak ones. You battle on a game map with blasters, lightsabers, Jedi powers and droids!

Revenge of the Sith Expansion Set The Light Side

The best news about this set is that there are some really incredible figs in it. The monstrous Grievous's Wheel Bike and the four-lightsaber wielding, quadruple-attacking, Grievous, Jedi Hunters are great. Tons of the basic figs have great poses and colors and the Wookie Berserker looks ready to rip someone's arm off!

The Dark Side of the Revenge of the Sith Expansion Set

The worst news is the guys who painted this set had some problems with the light colors - including pink skin colors. Darth Tyranus looks like he has serious problems, the Clonetroopers are a bit smudgy and a few other figs have wacky colors. Also, while the Starter Game has a really cool fold-out map board to play on, you only get six figs to start with. Oh, and open the Booster Packs from the bottom unless you have a chainsaw handy.

Revenge of the Sith - Light Side or Dark Side?

Definitely Light side. The Starter Game is a bit iffy compared to the Rebel Storm starter which gives you more figs, but the solid map gives it a real board-game feel. There are a few wacky figs but the aliens all look terrific. You can also find out a bunch of info about Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith movie from reading the stat cards that come with the characters!

Revenge of the Sith - Thumbs Up:

  • Grievous's Wheel Bike - so cool!
  • Basic troopers that look awesome.
  • Cool new powers.
  • A solid board-game map to play on.
  • You can enter DCI Tournaments and win prizes if the Force is strong with you!
  • Revenge of the Sith - Thumbs Down:

  • Darth "old man with a cane" Tyranus, ick.
  • Bad skin colors on some human figures.
  • The Starter Game only has six figures.
  • Revenge of the Sith Set Rating: 4
    Age:12 and up

And really, children under that age should not be playing M games! -_- (Kids these days...)
