The new Pokemon TCG expansion set is here – EX Unseen Forces! With two new theme decks, Ho-Oh, Lugia, new Legendary Pokemon Star and new Trainer cards, how cool is it? We review the new 143-card set here, starting with the Silvery Ocean and Golden Sky theme decks - check 'em out!

Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen - Silvery Ocean Theme Deck

Lugia is the star Pokemon in this Grass and Psychic themed deck. It has weaknesses against Fighting, Fire and Psychic Pokemon, but it also has Protective Orb Trainer cards that block Weaknesses and make its Pokemon nearly invincible!

Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen - Golden Sky Theme Deck

Ho-Oh is the champ in this Fire and Fighting themed deck. It has weaknesses against Water and Grass Pokemon but its Energy Removal 2 cards are great for wiping out your opponent's crucial energy cards!

Pokemon Battle: Silvery Ocean vs. Golden Sky

When these decks battle, Silvery Ocean is gonna kick butt. The Pokemon in each deck are a fair fight, but Silvery Ocean's Protective Orb cards give it the advantage over Golden Sky.

Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen Forces New Cards!

There are a few new tricks in the EX Unseen Forces expansion, here's the 411 on them!
  • Unown - This Pokemon has 28 different modes, each with a different power and the ability to change into the shape you want each turn.
  • Pokemon Star - Entei, Raikou and Suicune are the Legendary Pokemon Star, three powered-up basic Pokemon that can do 70 damage with one attack. But, if you have fewer Prize cards than your opponent, their super-attacks hurt you.
  • Eevee - This super-evolvable Pokemon returns, with even more Pokemon it can evolve into!
  • Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen Forces Set - Bottom Line

This set has a ton of new cards, 143 when you include the 28 Unown cards. There's a solid mix of new Pokemon, old cards and some new tricks that are really fun. Unfortunately, the new Legendary Pokemon Star cards are way too risky to use unless you're already winning. If you're new to the Pokemon card game, this is a good set to pick up because there are a lot of cards. It's also good for hardcore Pokemon players because an Unown swarm deck sounds insanely cool.

Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen Forces Thumbs Up:

  • Unown - wow!
  • Pokemon Ursaring kicks butt.
  • Lots of cards so there are plenty to collect.
  • Pokemon TCG: EX Unseen Forces Thumbs Down:

  • The Legendary Pokemon Star cards are weak.
  • Duplicate cards, which can be frustrating if you already have lots of them.
