Trouble At The Mansion

Pure Dead Trouble is the fourth book in Debi Gliori's Pure Dead series, which follows the wild adventures of Titus, Pandora and the rest of the Strega-Borgia family - including their odd collection of crocodiles, [kwlink]spiders[/kwlink] and monsters. In Pure Dead Trouble, the Strega-Boria family returns from a vacation in Italy to find their faithful butler, Latch, comatose on the front step, reeking of sulphur. Mrs. McLachlan realizes that Latch's condition is an omen of much more and much worse trouble to come. Unfortunately, Titus and Pandora are too distracted by their own problems to realize what trouble lies ahead. Pandora is too busy flirting with the mysterious replacement butler, while Titus is obsessed with uncovering the truth behind a massive biotechnology company with some very shady business interests.

Pure Suspense, Pure Laughs

Pure Dead Trouble is packed with suspense, gross humor and pure insanity - all the ingredients of a perfect story. The Strega-Boria family is like nothing else you've ever read about and you'll quickly find yourself getting caught up in their zany and bizarre way of life. What other family has a pet crocodile and a witch for a nanny? There's also plenty of gross and disgusting stuff, such as piles of dragon poop, that make the Pure Dead series a seriously fun and exciting read.

The Bottom Line

Pure Dead Trouble is a real page-turner, packed with sinister plots, magical spells and important lessons about being loyal to your family and pet crocodiles. If you haven't read all the previous books in this series, it may take you awhile to keep track of all the different characters - but in the end, all the zany plotlines and creatures eventually connect together. Pure Dead Trouble is a great book to read around Halloween, or whenever you feel like reading something that's a little off the wall.
