Artist - George Pocheptsov

Dec 27, 2006

Some people are born with natural talent and George Pocheptsov is no exception. He was only three years old when he sold his first painting. Now he's eight and his artwork goes for over $20,000 a piece. He's already sold over 100 of his paintings. It's not just locals supporting his work either. Hillary Rodham Clinton and General Colin Powell have both admired his paintings.

Decorating the walls at Georgie's Studio in Wilmington, NC are colorful pictures of three-legged nudes dancing on tiptoes, a crazy-haired guy stealing a kiss and a large snake circling a snake charmer. George, or Georgie as friends and family call him, hasn't seen half the things he draws. He was sketching monsters and four headed giraffes before he could read. He uses his active imagination and talent to create masterpieces.

At 17 months George should have been learning to talk. Instead he was teaching himself to draw. He wasn't just interested in drawing stick figures. He liked drawing everything. He drew antique cars, animals, flowers, fish, monsters and people. When he was two his mom told him his grandparents were coming to visit. He hadn't seen them in over a year but he picked up a pencil and drew their portraits.

His paintings are putting money in the bank, but George is still a typical kid. He goes to school, plays with friends and enjoys going to McDonalds. Instead of playing on a soccer team or spending the afternoon watching the tube, he prefers to paint. He also loves Pokeman games. Drawing is not something George does for money. He does it for fun - the money is just a bonus.

Do you know any amazing kidz? Is there anyone you think Kidzworld should profile?
