Jerry Seinfeld - Brooklyn Beginnings

Jerome Seinfeld was born to Kalman and Betty Seinfeld in Brooklyn, New York. When he was young, he moved with his parents and sister, Carolyn, to Massapequa, Long Island. When Jerry lived at home, his father was known as the funny guy in the family. Both Jerry's mom and sister have said that while Jerry is hilarious, he'll never be as funny as his dad.

Jerry Seinfeld - College Comedy

When Jerry was 17, he briefly volunteered on a Kibbutz (a collective community) in Israel. Upon returning to the US, he entered State University of New York, before transferring to Queens College. It was in college that Jerry began performing as an amateur comedian under the stage name The Jewish Terror. But Jerry's first real break came when he performed at an open mic night at New York City's Catch a Rising Star competition in 1976.

Jerry Seinfeld - Late Night Laughs

Soon after than open mic night, Jerry landed a small role in a Rodney Dangerfield HBO special. He went on to perform a highly successful act on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (yes, this was in the pre-Leno days). Soon he was being booked on all the big late night talk shows like Late Night with David Letterman and The Merv Griffin Show. He also had a small, reoccurring role on the '70s sitcom Benson.

Jerry Seinfeld - Master of His Domain

Jerry teamed up with his old stand-up pal Larry David (of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame) to write a pilot for a TV series called The Seinfeld Chronicles. The show was picked up by NBC and the show was renamed Seinfeld. Jerry and his cast mates became overnight sensations and the show was a huge success for nine seasons. After the show ended, Jerry returned to stand-up. He's now starring as the voice of Barry B. Benson in the upcoming film Bee Movie.
