Beauty pageants are good for girls.

I think beauty pageants are good for girls because they girls get rid of stage fright. They are also good because the girls can win money and prizes if they do good. Even if they don't win they the high title they still have a chance to win lower titles.

what is ur opinion?

Beauty pageants with academic backgrounds help encourage success and self esteem in girls. I don't believe in the pageants solely based on beauty, however. They are so wrong.

I completely agree with you. I was going to say just about the same thing as you.

I think beauty pageants are okay if you are over about 10 because like toddlers in tiaras are teaching young girls that beauty is more important than anything.I mean have you seen honey boo boo? that 6 YEAR OLD is messed up a lot because her parents just had to put her in pageants so that she is acting like she is 16 when she is only SIX!!!! so if you think that that is ok than that is just sad and I'm not saying that it's sad if you think that it raises self esteem because that is a good point, but I think they should have a choice before they are forced into this! and that is all that I have to say.

Well, it can be degrading to some girls, but i personally think it's giving others the wrong stereotype. Like in toddlers&tiaras, they make they little girls look all grown up, putting loads of makeup on them and making them look all fake, so now some girls try to look like that cuz they think it's "cute".
It also judges girls on how they look.

yeah but think about that. They can only win prizes if they are what society thinks are pretty. Society can also be degrading. And judging them can make them feel bad about themselves.

I agree, I mean, as far as those only beauty based pageants go its very degrading and emotionally painful for young girls because then they think they aren't pretty enough etc.
