Marriage is supposed to be between ONLY a MAN and a WOMAN.

The USA 's government is trying to get around the Constitution.

Because, the constitution states about Marriage only. The Constitution did not specify.

But; God DID specify.

I'm just gonna
throw this out there
that
lying isn't illegal
adultery isn't illegal
divorce isn't illegal
disrespecting your parents isn't illegal
working on the sabbath isn't illegal
worshipping other gods isn't illegal

the law does not follow the Bible
This shows the stupidity of America...it doesn't matter if it is against the law or not, what matters is if it is right, and working on the sabbath isn't a sin unless you are jewish.

It doesn't matter if we are hip with the "other countries" what matters is what is right, we were raised up as One Nation Under God. The bible has gays as a sin. When we were the power house in 1940 era til well now we didn't go with what everyone is doing, we did our own thing.

legalization of gay marriage is a political issue, therefore it is the law that matters, and not what your religion out of thousands deems as "right"

If you know anything about our country, you would know we were raised up by christianity and good religious people. Then the idiots rolled up and started going against our amendments and laws, I'll have you know the only reason why Obama supports gay rights is because the people support it, he was strongly against in 2008 til just now

If you know anything about Obama's 2008 election you would know that he never really spoke out on the topic, as it wasn't 'as big of a deal' then. Most people weren't thinking about same-gender marriage then because there weren't states outlawing it then. It mainly hit in 2009 -2010 when a lot of the south eastern states made laws saying same-gender couples' marriages would not be recognized. It's sad that that was the first real break for the marriage movement. and another thing, if you read the bible you would know that the sabbath isn't just a Jewish thing. It was never talked about in the second half of the bible and therefore is still a sin.

Since when is it the U.S. federal government's job to impose God's will on the American populace? America was in no sense founded upon the Christian religion.

Hopefully other religiously inspired rulings will be changed too, and we can see more progress.

The U.S. Constitution was written with religion in mind. During that time religion was a very large part of life and something like this wasn't expected to happen. That is also how we have based our laws was on the Christian faith. Go and look up the reason why we have the separation of Church and State and you see what the real reason was.

Today, October 12, 2013, is my last day on KW.

It was written with religion in mind as being separate. You won't find the words "God", "creator", or "Jesus" in the constitution. They didn't include religious terminology because they wanted this new government to not deal in the matters of religion; as made abundantly clear by the first amendment. Religion was no doubt a huge part of the culture in America then, and now, but culture and government are two entirely separate entities.

If states want to ban gay marriage, that's an entirely different thing. I just don't think the federal government should be able to, as it is not their right to define marriage, or to enforce biblical sentiment as law. I think it's backwards and completely wrong for states to ban gay marriage, but if they want to, that is their right alloted by the tenth amendment.
